The Baku — Tbilisi — Baku train launched on May 26, 2026, for the first time since the route was suspended in 2020. The service is operated by a new Stadler train of Azerbaijan Railways — not the double-deck seated Stadler that runs between Tbilisi and Batumi, but a comfortable sleeping train.

Citizens of the European Union, the United Kingdom, the USA, and a number of other countries cannot purchase tickets. Buying tickets

Since the route is operated by Azerbaijan Railways, tickets can be purchased on their website. It is possible that, as with the Yerevan train, tickets are also sold at the Tbilisi station ticket offices, but there is no official information or confirmation of this yet.

Car types and prices

The train has sleeping cars only. Comfort — a four-berth compartment, minimum price between terminal stations — 81 manat. Lux — a two-berth compartment with a private shower and toilet, minimum price — 180 manat. Prices are dynamic. At launch, there was information about Comfort+ compartments, but no such tickets could be found. The train also has a dining car.

Border crossing

Border control is carried out at the stations Böyük Kəsik and Gardabani, where 60-minute stops are scheduled. Passengers are not required to leave the train for border control.
