Kutaisi-1 is the only operating passenger railway station in Kutaisi. The main railway line from Tbilisi to Batumi runs south of the city, so Kutaisi-1 is a dead-end station with only a few route options.
9 km south of the city is Rioni Station, where most local trains stop. Routes 6353/6354 and 6355/6356 Kutaisi-Rioni-Kutaisi run every other day and are synced with train 853/854 Tbilisi-Ozurgeti-Tbilisi, which stops at Rioni. You can also get to Rioni by minibus or taxi.
Express trains from Tbilisi to Batumi (Stadler) don’t stop at Rioni – they stop at Kutaisi International Airport instead. The airport is 20 km southwest of Kutaisi-1, and you can get there by minibus, taxi or shuttle bus.
